The majority of deciduous fruit is found in the Western and Eastern Cape, and the Orange River Valley.
Apricots:
In the Little Karoo, Langkloof, Piketberg, Wolseley, Tulbagh and Ceres areas.
Plums:
Berg River, Little Karoo, Stellenbosch, Elgin, Grabouw, Franschhoek, Wolseley, Tulbagh and Ceres areas.Melons, Peaches & Nectarines throughout the Western Cape and Northern Cape.
Apples and pears are an important export fruit:
22.5 million Apple trees, and 13,7 million pear trees in the following areas:Apples: Ermelo (Mpumalanga), Bethlehem( Free State), Langkloof, and many are as of the WesternCape. Pears: Elgin/ Grabouw, the Langkloof, Ceres, Tulbagh, Wolseley. More than 40 % is grown in the Koue Bokkeveld area of Ceres and Wolseley.
